Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K celebrated a successful year of fundraising with a wrap party hosted by Greenspoon Marder Law at the Fort Lauderdale office. Guests celebrated raising more than $300,000 this year, bringing the seven-year total to more than $1 million.
The seventh annual Black and Blue Dine Around Event at Blue Martini and The Capital Grille in Fort Lauderdale helped to raise funds for Victory Living Programs. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Blue Martini, followed by dinner, wine and dessert at The Capital Grille.
Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth (FLIPANY) hosted a five-course dinner at the W Fort Lauderdale as part of its “Chefs Up Front” series. Twelve of South Florida’s most acclaimed chefs prepared the dinners. Money raised helps in the continuing effort of teaching youth and families healthy eating habits through Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters program.
More than 125 guests attended Casa D’Angelo’s founder and chef Angelo Elia’s “A Taste of Italy” event, which benefited PACE Center for Girls Broward. The dinner and wine auction raised $127,000 to help fund year-round academic counseling and life skills services.
The Cause: The first-ever LittleBig GlamSlam Fashion Show helped to raise $55,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s BankUnited Legacy Scholarship Fund. The fund offers higher education and vocational opportunities. Models competed for “Woman on the Verge” and “Man on the Edge” top honors.
The Cause: The Coral Springs Museum of Art celebrated the 20th anniversary of its permanent collection opening with a reception for members and the general public. The museum’s permanent collection exceeds 125 works and features artists including Keith Haring, Romero Britto, Andres Desjardin and Pablo Cano among others.
The Cause: More than 150 guests attended the kick-off party for the annual Signature Grand Ghoul benefiting 2-1-1 Broward at Signature Grand Halloween bash, which will take place Oct. 30. VIP guests included event emcee and former Miami Dolphins Player OJ McDuffie, NFL alumni Randal “Thrill” Hill and Kerry Glenn, along with 2-1-1 Broward board members and South Florida notables.
The Cause: Gold Coast magazine hosted a launch party at Seawatch on the Ocean in celebration of the “Best of Fort Lauderdale” summer issue. Guests enjoyed complimentary pours and bites while mingling with the winners of more than 35 “Best Of” categories, voted for by readers during a year-long poll. The evening concluded with a raffle of gifts provided by category winners.
The Cause: The third annual Waterway Soirée took place dockside at Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach and raised $205,000, including a $40,000 match from The Mary Jane Harlow Charitable Trust, to benefit Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center. Yachting enthusiasts, members of the marine industry and community members enjoyed dinner before embarking on an Intracoastal party cruise.
The Cause: Held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, the Poker Classic raised nearly $145,000 to benefit families at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser helps underwrite expenses at the Conine Clubhouse, a hotel-like facility at the hospital where families can stay free of charge while a child is hospitalized.
The Cause: John Offerdahl’s Gridiron Grill-Off Food & Wine Festival presented by the University of Miami Health System recently hosted its kick-off celebration at BBX Capital in Fort Lauderdale. Miami Dolphins legends and top local chefs are set to serve up signature grilled entrees during the South Florida premier event on Nov. 11 at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, where proceeds will benefit Offerdahl’s Hand-Off Foundation.
The Cause: The Plunge Beach Hotel in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea hosted the official kickoff party for the sixth annual Bug-Fest-By-The-Sea on July 25. Bug-Fest-By-The-Sea is a weeklong series of fun events and dives centered around Florida's annual lobster mini-season.

The Cause: Volunteers teamed up with IGY Marinas for its second annual community outreach event, “Inspire Giving Through You,” which helped to expand the Jack and Jill Children’s center’s playground area. The IGY Fort Lauderdale office worked alongside its Miami Beach marina, One Island Park, in addition to Maritime Professional Training, Denison Yacht Sales, National Marine Suppliers, Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Lauderdale Marine Center, Suntex Marinas and more.
